Is there a study app with streaks?

Verified on: October 27, 2026

The tudy streak counts the days in a row you studied and shows the month calendar.

A tudy streak is your count of days in a row studying, in the style of Duolingo, with two things that make it kinder: Sunday is a rest day and you earn freezes that cover a day you miss. It’s free for everyone.

What counts as a study day

A day counts toward your streak if you did at least one of these:

  • completed a task or subtask;
  • used the focus timer for 1 minute or more;
  • logged 1 minute or more of manual time;
  • finished a flashcard round with 3 cards or more.

The day is your account’s local day, so studying at 11 PM counts for the right date. And today with no study yet breaks nothing: the day isn’t over. A streak only ends when a whole day goes by with no activity, Sundays aside.

Sunday is a rest day

Saturday, a blank Sunday, then Monday: your streak keeps going and adds 1. Sunday is the only day you can skip with no consequence. If you do study on Sunday, it counts normally, so the break is optional. On the streak screen, a skipped Sunday is drawn as a frozen link on the calendar. One side effect: the 7-day milestone can take up to 8 calendar days if you rest on Sundays, because the streak counts days studied.

Streak freezes

A freeze saves your streak when you miss a day. You earn them by studying:

Situation What happens
0 freezes 3 days in a row earn the 1st
1 freeze 5 more days in a row earn the 2nd
2 freezes full, 2 is the maximum
You miss 1 day (Monday to Saturday) 1 freeze is spent automatically and the streak keeps its number
You miss only Sunday nothing happens, Sunday never uses a freeze

A freeze is spent on its own, with nothing to turn on. If you miss more days than you have freezes, they’re all spent anyway, one per day, and the streak ends. Once a freeze is used, the count toward the next one starts over from zero. Freezes work on both Free and Pro.

Milestones and the streak screen

The Streak screen (tap the flame at the top of Home) shows your count, your record, your best month, a month calendar with the days you studied and the milestone trail. The milestones are 7, 30 and 100 days, and each gives bonus XP once: +70, +100 and +150 XP. A “Streak started!” pop-up appears when you begin.

The flame at the top changes: dim (no streak), hollow (alive, but no study yet today, the daily nudge), lit (you studied today) and gold (7 days or more).

What’s free and what’s Pro

Everything about streaks is free: the count, the Sunday rest day, freezes, milestones, the calendar and alerts. Pro doesn’t change the rules. It adds the PRO badge and unlocks the rest of the app (unlimited subjects, advanced stats and Talk to tudy). Pro is $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year, paid by card.

Reminders

With notifications on, tudy sends an evening alert (around 8 PM) when your streak is at risk, Monday to Saturday, for people who already have 3 days or more. On iPhone, notifications only work once the app is added to your home screen.

What the streak doesn’t do

  • It doesn’t rewind. Unchecking a task or deleting something doesn’t undo the day’s streak (XP, if you uncheck, is given back).
  • It only moves forward. Backdated manual time counts the day only if it’s newer than your last study day; it doesn’t rewrite missed days.
  • It doesn’t count the welcome-guide task.
  • It isn’t meant to punish you. When a streak ends, the app shows your record and how to restart.

Streaks and the rest of the game

The streak is one piece of the game: it sits alongside XP and the leaderboard and the monthly badges. All of it is free. The math runs on the server, not in your browser, so nobody can change a streak from the client side.

Restarting after a break? A 1-minute timer session or a round of flashcards is enough to get it moving again.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a study day for a tudy streak?

Completing a task or subtask, using the focus timer for at least 1 minute, logging at least 1 minute of manual time, or finishing a flashcard round with 3 or more cards.

If I skip Sunday, do I lose my streak?

No. Sunday is a rest day: it's the only day you can skip without breaking the streak. Studying on Sunday still counts, so the break is optional.

What is a streak freeze?

A safety net you earn by studying: 3 days in a row earns the first, 5 more days earns the second, and you can hold at most 2. Each one is spent automatically to cover a missed day from Monday to Saturday.

Are streaks only for paying users?

No. Streaks, freezes, XP and the leaderboard are all available on the Free plan.
